Alya Al-Ammari is a Bahraini scientist and ice cream enthusiast.

She completed her BSc in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh, UK and went onto work as an analytical chemist for a major energy company in the Gulf, before transitioning to gelato full-time.

Alya started making ice cream at home in 2023 for friends and family, channelling her chemistry background to custom-formulate creative and bespoke flavours. She went onto train at the Carpigiani Gelato University in Bologna, Italy in the art and science of gelato.

Upon her return, Alya dove full-force into ice cream and opened Scoop Creamery in May 2024.
